Violent Femme (she/her)
How did you come up with your name and number?
Both my name and number are a nod to Milwaukee, where I got my start in roller derby.
When did you start playing roller derby/get involved with roller derby?
I inherited roller derby from my dad, who was a ref for over a decade starting around 2006. Back before junior derby was a thing, I would skate around the outside of the track on my neon pink skates and watch the adults. Now, I’ve become one of those adults I looked up to.
What do you like to do after a game?
I love an afterparty, hanging out with the team and discussing the events of the game.
What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Anybody, and I mean any body can play roller derby. This sport is not about what you look like but what you can do. This is an inclusive space, and there are many ways to be in this community.
What is the one song you blast on game day to get you PUMPED?
Deceptacon by Le Tigre; that song just feels like jamming
What does your life look like outside of roller derby? I work at a library, and I read about 200 books a year. I’m an artist that works with multiple mediums, mostly collage, paint, and oil pastels. My house has many creatures, including 3 cats and my dog, Iko.
