How did you come up with your name and number?
1) I am also a scale model of a full sized thing
2) Much like a toy dump truck, I also don’t have very good breaks
As for my number, when I asked the question of what it should be, 42 was the answer (long live the book nerds)
When did you start playing roller derby? How did you get involved?
I started skating in 2021. My wife and I wanted to play a sport. We were going to play rugby, but a retired skater bullied us into roller derby instead, and here I am.
Do you have any short term or long term Derby Goals?
Hit hard, don’t die
What position on the track do you play/prefer?
I like to brace because I like to know what’s happening
Do you have any specific pre-bout rituals or prepping you do?
Sushi lunch with my wife and a long mobility session…and chilling with the cat. She’s a real calming presence
What do you like to do after a game?
Tacos and a bath
What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Try it, you’ll like it. But keep in mind that the little things you do off the track will have a big impact on your performance on the track.
What is the one song you blast on game day to get you PUMPED?
I have a three hour playlist, but it ends with Big by Tank and the Bangas and Hold Out Your Hand by Brandi Carlile
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
Life outside of derby is a lot of training, a lot of chilling, and a lot of hanging out with my wife and cat
