Mississippi Blues (she/her) 228 Big Easy Roller Derby

How did you come up with your name and number?
I was born and raised in Mississippi, and when I started playing roller derby in DC I rarely met other people from Mississippi. So, being from Mississippi was unique and I wanted to include Mississippi in my name, and since Mississippi is the birthplace of the Blues, and, similar to me, if you don’t pay attention, the Blues just seems like smooth background music, but if you listen closely you’ll catch a joke or a funny story. So, I added Blues to my name. And, 228 – Pascagoula through and through 😊

When did you start playing roller derby?
I started playing derby in 2018. 2018 was my year to become interesting. So, I tried a ton of new activities. Roller Derby was the one thing that stuck.

Roller Derby is available to every body type. That is one of the main reason I enjoy it so much. There are so many strong players that have a variety of body types.
