How did you come up with your name and number?
I am just a big fan of Dr Pepper and it’s 23 flavors.
When did you start playing roller derby/get involved with roller derby? How did you get involved?
I joined Big Easy Roller Derby in Fall 2023. I’ve always admired people that played roller derby and I wanted to give it a try mostly. So far, it’s been so much fun!
What position on the track do you play/prefer?
Brace is fun and being thrown around is pretty fun too.
Do you have any short term or long term derby goals??
My main derby goal right now is to get strong enough to play in a match!
What is the one song you blast on game day to get you PUMPED?

What do you like to do after a game?
Shower and EAT!
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
I’m usually cuddling my cats Aloo & Gobi.
What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
You should come to one of the intakes sessions. Just do it! I used to think that I’d be too weak for roller derby but everyone is encouraging and they teach you everything you need to know at your pace.

How did you come up with your name and number?
I was thinking of words to describe me and quiet was one word and fast described my skating style (or at least what I am working toward). After I settled on it I looked up the name Quiet Fire and found that it’s also the name of one of Roberta Flack’s early albums.
When did you start playing roller derby/get involved with roller derby? How did you get involved?
I started in Chicago right before Covid. I saw a post from a friend of a friend on fb and it looked fun so I did their fresh meat.
Do you have any short term or long term Derby Goals?
Short term improve my jamming skills. Long term play in a tournament and win.
What position on the track do you play/prefer?
Pivot or blocker but jamming is slowly becoming a fav
Favorite derby memory?
Playing in the running of the bulls mashup. It’s SO hot but also so much fun to play with people from all over who came into town for running of the bulls.

What do you like to do after a game?
EAT and be horizontal
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
Traveling for work and leisure, trying out different hobbies, live music, lots of outdoor activities with my dog, Nola festivals.
What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Just try it and if that first day doesn’t go as planned that’s ok. Just keep showing up you will get better and you will have a n awesome community around you encouraging you and supporting you.



How did you come up with your name and number?
My real name is Lee so I wanted a derby name to play off of that and decided on “Bruise Lee”
When did you start playing or getting involved in roller derby? How/why did you decide to start?
A friend of mine used to skate with Big Easy and when I was looking for a fun way to exercise, she introduced me to roller derby
Do you have any short term or long term derby goals??
I would love to make a successful apex jump during a game while jamming

Favorite derby memory?
On my first Saturday morning practice I ended up sick with heat stroke during the first 10 minutes of practice. My introduction to many of friends like Tonka and Themby was outside puking in the grass
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
I work with children and I’m about to start school for pediatric nursing

Hydrating and stretching

What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Just fucking do it

How did you come up with your name and number?
I came up with my name watching the robots movie with Robin Williams’ character fender fighting the bad guys dancing to hit me baby one more time and thought gender bender was perfect. I picked the number 22 because of Elliot pages character from Whip It, his number was 22.
When did you start playing or getting involved in roller derby? How/why did you decide to start?
My dad started Reffing when I was like 5 or 6 and I always knew I’d want to play. I started playing when I was 14 with junior derby and joined Big Easy when I turned 18.
Do you have any short term or long term derby goals??
I definitely want to work on my track awareness and getting stronger so I can be a better blocker.
What position on the track do you prefer?
I start blocking on the inside but end up blocking wherever after haha
Favorite derby memory?
I think the game on April 9th was my favorite, I loved getting to actually play a game with my teammates
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
I’m usually at school studying earth and environmental science or at home with my roommates watching criminal minds together.
Do you have any specific pre-bout rituals or prepping you do?
Not really, I wear my good bra and try to hydrate and eat lots of carbs

What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Do it! It’s way more fun to live life trying stuff and you never have to keep doing something if you hate it.

When did you start playing roller derby/get involved with roller derby? How did you get involved?
I started in 2017 as an NSO. I was introduced to roller derby in another state several years ago. When I moved to New Orleans I was looking for community, and I found my people.
What does your life look like outside of roller derby?
Covered in glitter!
Do you have any short term or long term derby goals?
For now I just want to skate. Eventually I would like to learn to ref and to bench coach.
What position on the track do you play/prefer?
When I NSO, i like to Jam Time. When i skate, I am just happy to be on the track in any position.
Favorite derby memory?
Most recently, receiving my first roller derby jersey!
What do you like to do after a game?
Tell everyone what an amazing job they did and remind them to be proud of their hard work.
What is some advice you’d give to someone who may be interested in joining roller derby?
Don’t let your social anxiety or lack of skating abilities hold you back! We’re always happy to meet new friends and see our community grow!
